News: Session in honor of Al Curran at 2008 GSA in Houston

"Leaving Traces—Making Marks: In Honor of H. Allen Curran"


Al Curran at GSAWith his diverse professional interests, prolific and active research collaborations, and innovative and effective pedagogical approaches, Al Curran (Professor Emeritus at Smith College) has deeply influenced and inspired generations of his students and colleagues. A special session in his honor at 2008 GSA in Houston was an opportunity to celebrate with Al Curran his many accomplishments as a superb scientific researcher, an award-winning educator, and a far-reaching contributor to the community. The session was co-sponsored by the Paleontological Society and the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies, and it featured introductory remarks by Bosiljka Glumac, 21 oral presentations on a wide range of topics, and closing statements by Al Curran.
